very good site....I like the riparian law section. although I do not agree with all of your groups agenda, you do have a good web site. I am a riparian owner with two parcels of lake front on L. Charlevoix. I really hate to see the rich people who buy up property on our lakes try to block off the publics right to use the lakes . Not everyone can afford the high price of lake front property, and they should still have the right to the waters and the lakes. Otherwise , Michigan, the Water Wonderland will be only for those who are wealthy enough to afford the buy on the lake. Sincerely, Jim Felton

We needed to refer to your website today for the purpose of reviewing the last newsletter since we had left it downstate and we needed answers prior to attending a township meeting. Good website with the names and numbers we needed. We are reparian owners on Higgins Lake and support your efforts. We share your concerns and read your newletter with interest. Maybe we will be convinced to become more involved.

You need to change alot on here. You can be a riparian rights owner and not have the ability to keep your boat on your land. I know as the courts just found against me. I had prior approval from the township before I bought this house in 2000 to have a dock and a boat. In 2001 the lake assocation and the neighbor to the rt of my property sued me in civil court, the judge refered it back to the township ZBA. Well they voted against me, at this time I had the supervisor of the township at the time talk to the attonery and see if I would be legal if I put a state in the ground and tied off to that. Of course 1 month later the township filed suit against me and to me to court, well yesterday 6-9-03 the judge voted against me and told my lawyer I had 21 days to take my boat out of the water. Well because I only have a half of a lot I am not able to have a boat or dock there. I pay all the same taxes on this property as a lake owner does and am not able to use it. This is not a swimable area either. So I have a 24x150 piece of property that is directly across the street from my home and cannot use it except for to pay taxes and keep up the lawn. Something needs to be changed in our laws. The rich lake assocations are taking away from the average person their rights to use the lake. I have spent 15,000 dollars trying to keep my rights to the lake. I would like to appel this case but have run out of money. This is what the lake assocation was trying to do. I need help please! Thank You, Sue Wenzlick hd5722@aol.com

I'm glad I found you!!! I'm am on a board for our inland lake Duck Lake in Grand Traverse county. We are having a very difficult time with our easements to the lake. We have people who do not live on the lake using the easements to put out docks and shore stations to keep their boats all summer. What started with one boat has turned into 8 boats. Is there any advice to you can us and/or direction. The easements are being taken over and the Board is afraid to do anything.... Thanks, Neal A. Jones
